Populus nigra-Black poplar

It is protected, fast- growing  and grows into a 25-30 m tall and 15-20 m wide tree with a spreading and loose crown. Its bark  is light drab and smooth while young and over the years turns into a dark grey colour with reticulated  deep wrinkles.  Black poplar likes mildly acid or  mildly alkaline, sandy or adobe soil, sunny and warm location. They can reach the age of 200-250.
