Liriodendron tulipifera

One of the most famous large deciduous ornamental trees. In our climate it grows to 20-25m height. Firstly, the crown is pyramid- shaped and then it becomes massive. The tulip- shaped, 7-15cm long and wide leaves have 3 lobes but the lobe in the centre is missing its top. The greenish yellow flowers bloom in June- July. The leaves turn to bright yellow in the autumn. Tulip tree prefers a sunny location and a nutritious, wet soil. It is the best choice to plant it as a solitaire since it decorates with unique- shaped leaves and their beautiful colours in the autumn.
