A beautiful indeciduous ornamental shrub which, without pruning, will grow to 2m height and 1,5m width. The shiny dark green leaves are bright red while sprouting but they will turn back to green later. The simple, white flowers bloom from May to the end of June. Its crop is a red berry, the birds favourite. Carre Rouge prefers a sunny, half- shadowy location and well- structured soil. It is an excellent choice for planting as a solitaire or with other plants and with pruning a mesmerizing hedge can be made from it. With its colourful leaves it gives the garden a fresh and attractive appearance.
