Loropetalum Daybreaks Flame

Loropetalum is an extremely striking evergreen shrub, an increasingly popular ornamental plant in gardens with a mild climate. Its special feature lies in its beautiful, deep burgundy or reddish-purple foliage that adorns the garden all year round. It can reach a height of 1-1.2 m. It produces its characteristic pink-red, fringe-like, spidery flowers from early spring to early summer. A second flowering may also occur at the end of summer. It likes a semi-shaded spot and well-structured, nutrient-rich soil. Its water need is moderate, but it appreciates watering, especially during flowering. It is frost-sensitive, so in winter it should be kept in a sheltered spot.
