Berberis media Red Jewel

Height: 0,3–0,4 m

Red barberry is a deciduous ornamental shrub that can reach a height of up to 1-1.5 m and a width of up to 1 m. Its leaves are burgundy-brown, and the autumn color of the foliage is bright red. Its flowers are small and yellow. They bloom singly or in clusters of a few flowers in April or May, followed by red, slightly elongated berries. It likes sunny spots, but also tolerates a little partial shade. It likes loose, well-drained soil rich in nutrients. Its water needs are moderate; it is advisable to water with small amounts of water, especially during drought. With its dark color and the size of its leaves, it can be successfully planted and grown in most gardens. It can be planted as an element of shrub groups, as a background plant in perennial beds or as a low hedge.
