Euonymus alatus Compactus

Height: 0,8–1 m

A small to medium-sized deciduous shrub that grows to 1-2m in height and, as its name suggests, is a compact plant with a dense system of shoots. It reaches a greater width than height, which is worth bearing in mind when looking for a place for it in the garden. Its true value is revealed in autumn, when its green leaves turn intense pink and red. The flowers appear in spring or early summer but are inconspicuous. The flowers are yellowish green, and they can develop into small, bright red fruits. It grows well in both sunny and partly shaded spots. In shady spots, however, the autumn color will not be very vivid. Loose, well-drained soil rich in nutrients is ideal for it. Its water needs are moderate, but it requires regular watering. Aphids and scale insects may appear on the plant due to drought. It can be planted as a standalone plant or in combination with other plants.
