Cornus sanguinea Annys Winter Orange
Height: 0,4–0,6 m
This type of dogwood is a deciduous shrub that grows to about 1-1.2 m in height and 0.8-1 m in width, forming a shrub with a sparse branch system. Its leaves are oval, green, tapering toward the tip, with clearly visible veins. The special feature of the variety is its orange shoots, which become visible after the leaves fall. Its small, creamy white flowers bloom from May to the end of summer, forming sparse, cone-like inflorescences. It can be planted in both sunny and partly shaded spots, but the autumn color of the leaves is more intense when it is planted in a sunny spot. Well-drained soil rich in nutrients is ideal for it. It needs a moderate amount of water. If it is planted for its orange shoots, we can prune it harder, because young shoots are always more vividly colored. It can be planted as a standalone plant or in combination with other perennials.
