The Turkish hazel is a deciduous tree with a regular conical crown that grows to a height of about 15-20 m. Its light gray bark is longitudinally cracked. Its broad, ovate leaves are gray-green, deeply heart-shaped, with serrated edges, and turn yellow in autumn. It blooms in late February to early March. Its fruits are tasty and suitable for human consumption. It loves sun and well-structured, nutrient-rich soil. Water requirements are medium; watering is needed during drought. An ideal choice for larger gardens and parks.
