The yellow or light orange flowers grow in panicles to 90-120cm length. The crop is an orange berry. Canary Island date palm thrives in full sun, warmth and light. In the young age it needs a sandy soil with good permeability and later a medium- textured one. It forbears draught but is water- demanding in a hot summer. In the winter times a bright location and 12-14°C is the best for this plant however, the older palms forbear -4°C if the weather is not long- term. Because of its modest needs, fast- growing ability and striking appearance, Canary Island date palm is the most famous ornamental palm beside the California fan palm. An excellent choice for roomy, bright halls.
