Ribes nigrum Titania

Height: 0,6–0,8 m

A vigorous shrub that grows 1.2-1.5 m tall, with moderately dense, strong foliage. The leaves are dark green, large, smooth, with 3-5 pointed lobes and a protruding middle lobe. It begins flowering in April-May. The fruit ripens from July, in long, large clusters of 8-12 loosely set black berries. The skin is glossy and the flesh firm, juicy, mildly aromatic, with a pleasant tart taste. It is exceptionally rich in vitamin C. The high vitamin C content helps prevent and treat serious infections, above all pneumonia. It is self-fertile, and the fruits are very tasty eaten fresh, as jam or even syrup. It likes loose, deep, well-drained, moist, nutrient-rich soil, in a sunny or shaded, airy spot. Its water needs are high.
