Lagerstroemia Petite Red

The crape myrtle Petite Red can grow to about 1.2m in height and 1.5m in width. A deciduous shrub or small tree, often multi-stemmed. It is exceptionally decorative. The leaves are oval with pointed tips and green. Its red flowers are grouped in large clusters. The flowers are frilly and unique. An excellent bee pasture. It produces flowers on one-year-old, fresh shoots. It needs plenty of light and grows and flowers best in warm sun. Well-drained, nutrient-rich soil is ideal for it, but it also likes sandy soils. Its water needs are moderate, and watering is recommended during flowering. It needs regular pruning. It is worth pruning in early spring to make it bushier and to stimulate the plant to flower. Planting as a specimen is recommended; with its beautiful flowers it creates a true Mediterranean atmosphere.
